May the Kadosh Baruch Hu, the Holy One, bless you and all those you love with a new year of good health, peace, fulfillment and the love of family, friends and community.
L'shanah tovah tikateivu לשנה טובה תכתבו
Rabbi Amy Levin
Elul is the Hebrew month that immediately precedes Rosh Hashanah (whose date is Tishrei 1, the beginning of the next month).
I will post an "Elul Meditation" for each day of the coming month of Elul (except, of course, for Shabbat). Some will be longer, some will be shorter. Some will be more traditional, some may be a bit unexpected. None of these are original to me. Rather, this is a collection of short readings I've collected over the years from a variety of sources. I have included the citation of authorship in every possible case.
I hope you'll enjoy reading them and I hope they'll help get your spiritual juices flowing before we embark on our coming Days of Awe.
Hineni: Send Me
The voice of Adonai replied: I did send someone. I sent you!
We pray for life--we ask God for a year of health and happiness. We cannot merely ask.
Tell the Almighty--tell the world--tell yourself:
Send me! Hineni, here I am! Shlacheni, send me!
